    Moving Troops

Apparently Europe is worried that the President will withdraw troops as was promised on the campaign trail. Poland is offering 2 billion dollars for a new American base to house our people. Poland understands, Germany wants only the $$$. Going to be interesting to say the least to have our troops looked as allies and not occupiers.

I say, go where we are wanted and stay away from where we are not -- although the Germans will whine and moan when we leave.

Pull everyone out of Europe and withdrawal from NATO. NATO is no longer a war fighting organization.

Keep NATO but throw the Turks out - never should have been let in.

Stay in NATO. Sooner or later, someone will end up having to settle russian's hash. Much better for the EC ala NATO to be up front when it happens. Keep Turkey in NATO. It is safer to keep them at least nominally on the Allied side rather than kick them out and see them end up standing w/ iran, etc. Cost? Let the good ole boys in the EC pay the freight for defense. No reason for the US taxpayer to foot the bill for EC defense so that their citizens can get a tax break. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

Here is NATO's organizational structure. NATO has a lot of fat to it.

Understand the sentiment, DT. Back in the day the Islamists weren't calling the shots in Turkey and the US wanted a stout anchor on NATO's SE flank. The trouble had always been between the Turks and Greeks but things are changing. I am still in favor of a strong transatlantic military alliance.

Re: Org. Struct. Understandable. NATO is a combination of the armed forces of separate nations. If the US had retained its original structure ... i.e., a political confederacy, the consequence for organizing beyond confederated state borders would in this modern era be about the same. As to fat ... about the only time the US DOD has ever not had a lot of fat in the budget was back before WWII when the consequences of the Depression were felt throughout the nation. Doubtless there is fat in the NATO budget. Never will get away from such stuff. Typical of any organization public or private. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

While we are talking about pulling out of things, I suggest that we pull out of the UN or at least stop paying money to support it. The UN refuses to allow an audit of their spending and almost never supports anything that is in America's interest. Nikki Haley has repeatedly shown how corrupt they really are.

Trump is aware of this and has already cut the money back quite a bit. Still, we are the main supporters.
