How would you get those kids out of the cave ? ...

Musk suggested an inflated tube the kids could crawl through.
I'd suggest a watertight canister that could hold kid plus
adequate air supply - rings on each end for ropes. Insert kid, pull
canister through, release kid, team can pull canister back and refill.
It would take a long time to get them all out, but hopefully before
the rains come. Shouldn't take long to construct such a canister.
Assuming the kids didn't have to crawl on their bellies to get where
they are, then there should be enough room for the canister to
pass along unobstructed.
I can't see these kids surviving a 5 hour swim in diving gear, nor can
I see drilling a hole downwards as a viable solution.
So, any ideas if you were on the scene ?

I think their biggest problem will be panic. For someone who has never been a diver, it is a terrifying experience to be in a cave underwater. I was wondering if they could give those kids a small dose of a tranquilizer before the started their swim. Since the cave seems to be such close quarters, I don't know if not knowing how to swim is really a problem.

One thing in their favor is that they've already had a little time to get used to the idea of being underground. Everything is relative.

There have been all kinds of movies about disasters, The Titanic for real and the Poseidon Affair for the fun of it.

I've never watched disaster films because I hate them... they make a mockery out of suffering and death. I do not like being around children because they can scare the sheet out of me. I saw a child drown and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I was talked into going with the Boy Scouts to the Civil War site at Shiloh on the Tennessee River. One of the kids ran to the rivers edge on a bluff that over looked the river ... The Scout master was shouting, NO STOP... but the kids ran up to the buffs edge and the overhanging clay bank collapsed sending little Jimmy Morton to his death.

Now we have this real disaster where real kids are going to die a terrible death because their scoutmaster was a stupid bastard for even wanting to take kids to a place that was too dangerous to be trifled with.

We are seeing this more and more... people pulling the U.S into a death trap with no way out. They giggle and laugh, and twist and turn, but when the dying starts they are no where to be seen.

If they get out, it will be made into a movie. There have been a lot of miracle rescues in the past. Lost climbers, trapped miners, kids in wells etc. I pray this will turn out to be one of them. Hopefully there is little loss of life unlike that rugby team in the Andes.

I agree. I have seen enough real suffering and death as a cop to ever be able to look at it as entertainment. If you have your 5 year old daughter kidnapped, raped and killed, the last thing you want to do is watch one of these cop shows that portray the same thing as some sort of sick entertainment. Same goes for murder who done its. Nothing even remotely entertaining about the real thing.

At least none of the boys died. Sympathies for the family of the diver who lost his life during the early attempts. It's easy to say his sacrifice helped lead the way to the final outcome, but is it any consolation to his loved ones?
I didn't post when the final rescue was made. As happy as I was to see them make it out I still remembered the diver. Then a TV talking head made the comment that all which was lost was a lot of equipment. That jackass. From the lack of giddy responses on this thread at least I know you probably all felt the same.
