So far, I haven’t seen President trump bow to a Saudi something or another like Obama did. Was that correct protocol. Togar?

Believe it or not the one thing that Brits have taken offence at on this occasion is the fact the he was 15 minutes late arriving at Windsor Castle. That has done his popularity no good at all; even with his supporters. Not fake news either, seen by thousands on live TV.
The sight of him scurrying away when a guy on a paramotor flew over Turnberry has also provided a lot of laughs. And no the Secret Service could not shoot him down because his flight had been cleared by ATC at Prestwick.Last edited by Eddie Parks; 07-14-2018, 02:08.Comment

How about this, the US just back out of Europe totally and let the EU do their thing. @ one time it made sense, not now as we are still fighting the next war with the last ones thinking. The U.S. Navy can park a sub where there is water, our ICBM'S can hit anywhere as well as cruise missiles. Boots on the ground for land we do not want or need to police. One of the things as a case manager was NOT to run the clients life, just offer advice. Same goes here in Europe, if we continually led their need how can they decide reality for their AO. The $ we spend in Europe would be better spent with our partner Canada and perhaps Mexico. Offer Mexico the same type of deal that works so well with Canada, why not?

The ONE thing? No, I don't believe it, & being 15 min. late is not the reason there were thousands of radical left-wingers clogging the streets of Londonistan.Comment

I don't know the protocol there, but clearly Obama wasn't being rude and disrespectful to his host. Neither was Trump when he went to Saudi Arabia. So it shows that he knows how to behave when it suits him. Thus I conclude that it is deliberate.
Any chance that it backfires? Trump acts like a deliberate A-hole who doesn't worry that what goes around, comes around. Maybe not for him personally, but the rest of us may not be so lucky.Comment

Selfish kids do their own thing, responsible adults cooperate. Probably you explained that as a case manager too. In any event the immediate question is why Trump has to be such a dick about it.How about this, the US just back out of Europe totally and let the EU do their thing. @ one time it made sense, not now as we are still fighting the next war with the last ones thinking. Next week you guys will love Russia and ask "what's wrong with having better relations with Russia?"
Well this week the question is "what's good about having worse relations with Germany? And Britain?"
CH would say it's about homos. For him personally that's a big one to swallow (pun intended), but I don't get that vibe from the administration. So the question remains, and the best working theory is that we have a compromised POTUS who is deliberately trying to destroy the western alliance from within.
Got a better theory anyone? Let's hear it. Love for Russia, hate for Britain. Go.Comment

OBVIOUSLY the most rational course of action in the era of cruise missiles & laser-directed bombs, but IMPOSSIBLE when there are still so many in this country & Europe who refuse to stop fighting the Cold War. Why are US soldiers needed in Europe, when the scum of the Turd World is flooding into Europe from Africa & the Middle East? Why not put them in uniform if more soldiers are needed to fight off the Red Menace?

Protocol has always been a problem for Yanks in Britain. From Lady Gaga to Barack Obama to Donald Trump. As Vern mentioned at least DT (Dogtag???) didn't bow and kiss a ring. Nor did he display Japanese cordialities in China and S. Korea. Then there is this tale from Dubbya's visit with the Queen.
While riding in the processional carriage with the Queen, she and Bush both detected the odor of flatulence from one of the horses. They both pretended to ignore it at first. Finally something needed to be said. The Queen turned towards Bush and whispered, "My apologies but some things simply cannot be avoided".
Bush reached into his jacket and handed her a small packet. "I understand. Here, take a couple of these. They help me after eating refried beans."2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

Then to avoid such problems in the future, how 'bout we mind our business & let them do the same? The "friendship" of countries that lecture us on the benefits of welcoming Turd Worlders is something we can VERY well do without.Comment

CH you're all over the map. One week it's about honoring our European heritage. Next week those same Europeans are the bad guys and your heroes are found in a multi-ethnic Eurasian state that has never known any form of government other than the iron grip of the ruler. I have the feeling you won't miss this world when you're gone, and the feeling may well be mutual.Comment

And you're a fool not to grasp the obvious fact that I was referring to our European heritage of the PAST, before PC & radical liberalism took a stranglehold on most of the governments of Europe. Think a hundred yrs ago those shiploads of Africans currently invading Europe from Libya would have been a "resettlement problem" for Europe? They'd have been blown out of the water before they could land! As they should be now.Comment

Shiploads of Africans...if talking about say the 1790s, it paints a different picture on this side of the Atlantic. But even so, your boatload of Africans crossing the Med does not encounter a Europe of free peoples. Far from it. So again, a mixed message. And race was not such a clearly defined construct back then, nor were national boundaries.
Your image of the past is idealized, projecting present-day constructs onto a past you scarcely understand. There was considerable disagreement then. When the Constitution was written, a fair number of folks still wondered if a monarch wouldn't be a better bet. And those boats of Africans--also a source of debate. Our Constitution was not easily written, and it was not a foregone conclusion that it would endure, that free men could practice the necessary self-restraint to let it live. And Putin's Russians have nothing like it in their experience, so looking to them for inspiration is wrong.
You're nostalgic. The 1950s may have been great for you, but others...not so much. I therefore think you can expect a lot of opposition to a campaign to turn back the clock.Last edited by togor; 07-14-2018, 09:33.Comment

Doesn't it strike anybody as odd that they expect everybody to respect the president and get very angry if they don't, yet they don't want to respect other country's rulers?Comment

Eddie it's deliberate. No way will Trump elbow in front of Putin in Finland next week, just as he was a model of decorum when visiting the Saudis. He knows damn well how to turn it on and off. And the faithful learn who Trump hates and likes and dutifully follow suit. When he was in a pissing match with Kim, you should have seen the threads here. Now that he and Kim are writing sweet missives to each other, you don't see those threads anymore. They can't quite bring themselves to say nice things about Kim (yet), but they don't bash him. It's sad, really, to see what several decades of cable TV and internet propaganda have done to some minds.Comment

Really Togor, with your angry manner what would bring joy to your heart? You jump me when I simply state that America pull out and return home to let the world do as THEY WANT TO DO. There is no need with modern communication, closed circuit TV for leaders to meet face to face that is ancient stuff. If America returned to our own land, minded our own affairs at home what is the harm? I trust Russia to do what is best for them and that is it. If the President has committed any crimes put forth the evidence, not catching guys that did a crime ten or more years ago. If Trump is guilty of a crime then hang his hide to the barn yard wall, otherwise let him do what he was hired to do. You are sore that Hillary lost, ok I can understand that and even appreciate the anger. To keep internalizing her loss will only continue to fuel your anger. Anger not safely expressed turn inward into clinical depression with a host of issues there. Give it up man before you destroy yourself, you are wearing your pain on your sleeve.Eddie it's deliberate.
