We're losing the battle for "The American Way" ...

It may well be lost in a generation or two from now.
With 22% of the population speaking a foreign language,
mostly Mexican - it's in the cards. They procreate at a
faster rate than European types - possibly because they
regard sex as their preferred evenings entertainment,
or more likely it's the male macho aversion to condoms.
Or maybe they enjoy the never ending charm of getting up
at all hours of the night for feeding and diaper changing.
A typical sight in my nearest town is an Hispanic couple,
two toddlers, one in a stroller and one still generating.
But at least the men remain with their wives which is more
than can be said of another ethnic group.

Funny you post this DT as I just made reference to something along these lines on a a post below with mention to the Governor of Maine Paul LePage.

My Father says the same thing about this being an English speaking nation and takes offence at other languages. I have to remind him that he grew up speaking French in Northern New England just like Gov. LePage. He went to French speaking schools right on through high school right here in the good ol USA . My own cousin born here of parents born here was held back in the first year of school as he couldn't speak English .... near on 60 yrs ago.

I know a lot of immigrants who don't speak English .... but all their kids do . Maybe there is some improvement after all.

Not the men, but the women who have no more interest in birth control than in learning English. Both men & women in those cultures, in ALL Turd World cultures, simply do not recognize that birth control has or should have any relevance in their lives--it's a non-concern, a non-issue. To the women, getting preggo repeatedly is merely the normal, natural, course of life. They are absolutely untouched by the birth control revolution that began in civilized countries in the '60s.

Actually CH, if you give women access to birth control, then on average they use it, and birth rates decline, along with infant mortality. It's the conservatives, either local or over here (or in Rome) who fight it.

Most effective thing to raise the standard of living in a country is to educate the women. It's been proven over and over.

Point for Togor. Even the Mexicans in this country kind of get birth control once they "get on up to the eastside". Now the language thing; used to be the new immigrants(of all countries) stressed to their kids that English was required even if they could barely handle it. Now, the bi-lingual weight has shifted due to overwhelming Spanish speakers. But that's not smart. Heck, go to any Scandinavian country, everyone speaks English. My cousin went to Denmark and he said it was no problem to communicate. Some even liked to throw in a modicum of slang to be cool.

Just about every drug available in this country is produced in Mexico & sold for a fraction of the US cost, including birth control pills. What's stopping them from using them? Their population is still out of control.

English is the International language. All International Airline flights
have to converse in English. Foreign Domestic flights need not.

When I was a wee lad I used a mixture of English and German. The German is lost with only a vague familiarity remaining. Nearly every foreign family I know is bilingual and are either US citizens now, are in school for citizenship, or have intentions of becoming. The exception being the eastern Europeans who prefer to segregate themselves from all the rest with plans of returning to Poland, Czech Republic, Latvia etc.

Perhaps I'm just lucky to be living in a true melting pot area?

Interesting observation there JB . On one hand we seem to have no prob with temporary immigrants who can't wait to haul all their U.S. dollars back to Latvia ....

So a question for you, CH. Drive in the midwest or high plains, well off the interstate, away from big cities, and you see town after town whose population numbers are way down and trending downward. What free market prescription do you have for them?
