When I was a kid Campbell and the Bluebird attempted to set a record on the lake in my hometown in upstate New York in 1957. They built a special building to house the craft during the summer they were there. It was later turned into a Ford dealership. No records were set on the lake apparently because the water was never smooth enough, which was strange because normally there were lots of summer days when the lake was calm.

That was quite a boat and water speed for 1967. Hats off to those who restored it. Looks like they didn't have much left to work with especially after all those years under water in pieces. .
