Sounds like a good way to create more addicts.

Who with sheet for brains cares about helping them? (Except the social workers whose jobs involve picking up the pieces they leave behind.)

If giving it away free brings about their deaths sooner, society is the big winner. Another big plus is depriving dope dealers & opium producers of that part of their income.

Really doubt that it will create more, because it's already SO easy to get now. But it should reduce the theft, burglary, & other crimes, junkies commit to feed their habits.

I always said I couldn't be a drug addict; It's too much work. Pimping and whoring. Stealing, robbing. Way too much motivation required for me. Maybe I'll move to Norway, sounds like a real paradise.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

The solution is to simply note on one's state ID that the individual is an addict. Then, he or she can present the ID at any pharmacy, and get a months supply free. No more drug wars, pimps, thieves, pushers, narcs, drug courts, mules, drug lords, and all the associated salaried positions and people. Problem is, too many public officials are invested, and funded by the current situation. Regards, Clark

Of course it would be difficult to walk down the street for all the bodies lying there.

With a bit of imagination it could be managed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci739orj7hk

If you look at the epidemic we're undergoing now from over-prescription of opiates, imagine what free heroin would do!

Increase ODs? Wonderful! The reason heroin use is rising so fast is because it's much easier to get than prescription opiates, now so rigidly controlled in many states that victims of cancer & other severe conditions have to jump through hoops to get them.

Anybody know of a country that gives out free heroin that doesn't have a problem?

Question to consider is not whether free-dope is totally without social problems, but rather, whether those potential social problems are better or worse for society than the terrible problems created by addicts committing all kinds of serious crimes to raise the money needed to sustain their habits. As usual, the choices life forces on us are not between good & bad, but between bad & worse.

And I would love to see some solid statistics to answer those questions.

One of the big problems we have in this country is our narcissistic leadership, who think just because they IMAGINE something to be true, it IS true. Why not look for FACTS, and base our decisions on that, regardless of what we "believe?"

Is the trade-off worth it? Let's suppose the crime rate drops with free handouts. The politicians have to fund it, meaning the taxpayers get robbed again and again forever.

If Kentucky ever starts giving away "free" bourbon, would somebody let me know? Thanks.

Free dope for the addicts would end convenience store holdups over night. Regards, Clark

But do you have any evidence to support that?
