I remember back in '68 we had an M2 set up with a scope and sandbagged in. We got several kills with it -- although not nearly that far.

IIRC Carlos Hathcock used an M2 with a scope to make his 2,500 yard shot in Vietnam.

It was water cooled and mounted on a pedestal and the gunner stood and used the handlebars to aim the gun? I think it was probably supposed to be used for AA. The one I saw was at Frt. Sill, OK in the early 1960's. I've looked for a pic of one like it but couldn't find one.

Flashback moment: I have seen them in WW2 movies. Handle bars that is. Don't recall a water jacket though.

The water-cooled M2 with the handlebar grips was intended for use aboard ships. It may be an old design, but it can still dominate in an infantry situation. The M2HB can junk a wheeled vehicle in short order. Regards, Clark
