    Annapolis

Yesterday at my barbershop a woman came in with her son. He was a sharp, good looking boy of about 19 and was there to get his hair cut. His mother told me that he was a midshipman at Annapolis. He was friendly, intelligent and outgoing and answered many questions from other patrons about the naval academy. I was surprised to learn that girls constitute about 25% of the student body.

As I looked at this young, clean cut and patriotic guy I immediately thought about his opposite numbers. All the young freaks on our college campuses who burn our flag, curse our President and cheer Black Lives Matter. I think this midshipman is becoming part of an endangered species and there will be fewer like him in the future.

      Pessimism is a disease.

IIRC there was a thread at the crackerbarrel forum awhile back in which it came to light that a fair number of guys were longhairs back in the day.

As an ROTC graduate I don't think the service academies produce better officers, but they have a better alumni network.

When I was around four or five my Dad would take me for a hair cut.
When I was nineteen I went by myself.

No matter how well done the young midshipman may be, someday a dem will spit on him and call him a fascist. Regards, Clark

                Yeah, I would've been embarrassed.

Here is our reality. The numbers may be off slightly. Only 25% of our youth are qualified to serve, the rest have issues, like too stupid, too fat, medical conditions or criminal records. Of the 25%, only 1% will serve. Thats a very small sampling of our population. Of the 1% the greater percent serve because service runs in the family. I have a son in the USCG and I can tell you those young men and women for the most are very squared away.

When we went to a Volunteer military it became much harder to enlist.

Red, be honest now. Mom was showing him off.
