What a load of rubbish ...

So Napoleon lost the battle because it rained only on his side
and not on Wellington's ? One of them didn't say his prayers.
Actually, the battle didn't begin until noon because the ground
had to dry so that the canon balls could bounce and plow
into the troops, otherwise they would just get stuck in the mud.
Went to the Waterloo battlefield on a school trip a lifetime ago,
had the course of battle explained to us charge by charge.
The movie with Steiger and Plummer was pretty accurate,
according to the book by A, Nofi. Napoleon, Wellington and
Blucher all had mud to contend with.

In the end, Napoleon lost because he was not the man he had been in his youth, and had come to rely almost entirely on brute force.

That was part and parcel of the problem -- he relied on Ney when earlier in his career he would have done it himself.

And, one of his Marshals (forget who) let Blucher back into the fray.

Wellington is NOT A NAME! It's part of a title as in the First Duke of Wellington. The Duke of Wellington's NAME at Waterloo is Arthur Wellesley.

"OH, but everybody says that" Only Americans... the same way they mispronounce Gengis Kahn as Gang-gus Kan...and zee for zed...and...oh pay no mind. I went to a public school but at least mine had good teachers.

Correct, but if you say 'The Duke' folks will think you're talking about John Wayne.

He had 500 wives. I wonder that he lasted as long as he did.

Not quite -- Grouchy had defeated the Prussians and they were retreating east. Blucher pulled his army off the road and marched north, while the rear guard continued east. The pursuing French continued to report the Prussians were going east (back home) while the main Prussian army was actually paralleling Wellington's retreat. However, when Blucher turned west to unite with Wellington, he was cutting across the grain of the terrain, and barely made it in time.
