    ACLU +NRA versus Cuomo

This doesn't really surprise me. Restraint of Free Trade and Stifling Free Speech.

I look forward to his head getting handed to him.

At least the ACLU took a stand even if they are supporting left wing groups in a sort of backhanded way.

That's interesting. Sometimes an outfit can push it just to see if it sticks. In this case the ACLU(and we all kind of hate them right?) came to the rescue, so to speak. Me, being from the west find it hard to believe that the east is that weird. It's weirder out here than it used to be, but it's not that weird. Weird meaning, not cowboy country anymore and governors can decree things like that.

There are those who hate the principled stands of the NRA and its political advocacy. There are those who hate the same principled stands of the ACLU and, at least in my view, its political advocacy. With the NRA, political advocacy is separated from the basic function of the organization, i.e., encourage/advocate for marksmanship training, Second Amendment, etc. Exactly that sort of separation would be most helpful for the ACLU. In this instance, one can only applaud the ACLU for its principled stand with the NRA without regard to political advocacy. Sincerely. bruce.

If we live long enough to see it. Lower courts packed with left-wing judges will ignore the law even in such a clear cut infringement of the 1st A., & impose their personal beliefs as usual. Meanwhile, as the case advances to appellate courts, NRA will be hemorrhaging legal expenses, while Cuomo's finances his vendetta with unlimited tax-payer money.

You nailed it! Keep in mind the article states the possible ulterior motives for their stance. Justly so. The 1st Amendment applies to both left and right alike. Good!
Having said that, I firmly believe people's individual rights end at the point where they exercise them to the point of infringement on others. I'm talking written, not wished rights. The left has been getting a lot of wished/redefined/stretch of imagination rights granted with ACLU help, so I don't really see this as a turning point.

A good friend of mine owns a large local boat business and has had the same business insurance from a New York based insurance company for more than 20 years. Recently they sent him demands that unless he removes any firearms on display or any firearms parts, etc. from the property, his insurance will be cancelled. He has never has a claim related to any firearms displayed at the business. Just more bullying from Cuomo and the Communist State of New York.

Of course not--they recognize the potential of having their own ox gored if such blatant gov't coercion is allowed to stand. Although in the past, ACLU frequently defended unpopular groups, like Nazis denied a meeting permit by some city gov't dept., when they recently made statements suggesting they would defend the free-speech rights of some similar right-wing group, they were hit by such a deluge of membership cancellations that they backed away from taking in part in that controversy. Most current members & financial supporters of ACLU will not tolerate ANY deviation from radical leftist policies, & will no doubt be outraged by ACLU's even seeming to be in any way "helping" NRA, even though ACLU's leaders are making it crystal clear that it's the principal, not NRA per se, they are defending.

Somewhere floating around the house are pocket Constitutions from LaRue Tactical and the ACLU. I've never bothered to check if the text inside is the same.

Go a little farther west and you'll see REALLY weird -- in San Francisco, for example.
