Vinyl records are making a comeback because CDs make
singers, females in particular, sound exactly the same.
I'm an Opera buff and I could pick out the individual voices
in a sextet - on vinyl, but not on CD.
I have quite a few silent movie DVDs although I'm not a fan
with the exception of Buster Keaton. I love his silents, but
not his talkies. Having said that, I find it surprising that
todays youth would admire silents, unless like me it's the
early Keatons, Chaplins, Lloyds. Harold Lloyd did all his own
stunts, hanging from a clock face 200 ft above the road
with an almost non-existent safety platform. And, he had three
fingers missing from one hand. Can you imagine Tom Hanks
doing that even with all his digits ?
