Sir Hugh Dowding warned Britain about the EU threat ...

more than a decade before he was proven right.

They should have listened, but politicians always know better.
Probably thought "Ah, what does a mere pilot know about these things"
    A helluva lot apparently.

I hear Mexico writing the check? Oh, no I don't.

A couple of points. First, the Muslims don't come from the EU. They come from the Commonwealth, former imperial possessions. Second, for every Pole coming to the UK to "take a job" from a Brit, there is a Brit going to the continent to "take a job" away from a Frenchman, a Spaniard, a German. I remember the day of the vote. I was having breakfast in a hotel in Switzerland. Three UK guys came down to eat, so I asked them what they thought of it. All ethnic English, they were in favor of it. Something about deportations of criminals taking too long under EU rules. So I guess they were Daily Mail readers back home. But as businessmen, I wonder if they're looking forward right now with some uncertainty to March, 2019. Whether they realize it or not, they were among the winners of Britain being in the EU. The Tories are still in the predictable "we'll have our cake and eat it too" phase of Brexit-denial, but if it comes down to sheer size, and it might, then they are going to get the short end of the stick. Having shown the middle finger to Europe, they are unlikely to be granted a favor by the continent.
