Tennis has moved into the era of the blistering serve.
Serena Williams has achieved number one status because
she is built like an Amazon and can serve the ball at over
110 mph which must be hard to see let alone get to with
a racket. On the Men's side a 137 mph serve is quickly
becoming the norm. The Rackets themselves have much
larger heads than did the earlier wooden ones.
Players I loved to watch like Edberg, Hingis, Henin left the
game earlier than they needed simply because they were
blown off the court by those I call "the big wallopers"
