    Weather and people.

It is interesting and alarming this new tropical storm that is soon to be upon us and some peoples reactions. It is a very dangerous storm and some people will try and ride it out...not a good idea. Some of the people have never experienced a storm of this type and are staying with the hope that is something does go wrong government will ride to the rescue. Having worked with people with delusional thinking I have to ask the question why? I have been thru a quick flood, it is not pleasant so why subject one/others to it? I live in an area that gets a great bit of snow, cold weather and occasionally ice storms. We prepare for it and stay in place not needing to relocate. Winter is coming up, vehicles are being readied, safety gear in place, wood and food provided. I know others who have the mindset of just going to the store, not realizing the store might be closed. Just a thought.

What have people experienced, and what can they imagine? For many, unless they've been through it, they can't picture it. And as catastrophes are big, and rare, a certain "well how bad can it be?" attitude creeps in, which combined with the immediate and obvious inconvenience of displacing, leads people to decide to ride it out. Even afterwards, if some conclude that next time they'll displace, others decide that since they made it through this one, they can do it again. I guess it's just the randomness of humanity at work.
