Whenever someone says a person's "sexual orienatation/affectional preference" is a private matter, I always reply:
"Do you approve of pedophilia ?"

And does any pedophile "choose" to have that highly risky predilection? If you asked one, wouldn't he say "of course I don't WANT to have this dangerous obsession, which makes me constantly fearful of exposure, but I'm hard-wired for it--I can't help myself!" So if this tendency is what Togor calls "not a flaw, but a feature of humanity," shouldn't it, like sodomy, be de-criminalized where no coercion is involved?

CH we usually don't ban things just because one guy really thinks they're icky, or someone else says that God told them it was necessary. Things get banned when enough people are persuaded (objectively or subjectively) that the practice is bad. I know this frustrates you because you know to an iron-clad certainly that your list is the best, but consider how many things that you do that would be on someone else's banned list if they got to be special. Sometimes a guy is on the winning side and sometimes he isn't.
