If this keeps up, we'll run out of Village Idiots ...

Shocking death causes another nitwit to bite the dust:

Just about everyone on this board has at some time done something that was not wise. Some did so when they were young. Some have done so when they were not young anymore. Sorry this man died. No different than someone who messes up sky diving, rock climbing, racing cars or jumping horses. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

Some people are born stupid, other's acquire it. It's like the news reporters who put themselves in "situations" and then get whacked!

Some of the posts refer to him, as the victim. I'm not sure that's appropriate.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Except in skydiving, rock climbing, racing cars and jumping horses, there are training courses, safety equipment and standard procedures to follow.

That's no doubt true, but I've never climbed on top of a moving overhead electric train,
jumped out of a plane with no parachute or fallen off a cliff whilst taking a selfie, nor
have I driven at 100 mph into a tree.

Since when is train surfing comparable to any of the above? Not saying he deserved to die but WTF?

In the eyes of many, activities such as sky diving, rock climbing, racing cars, jumping horses, etc. are dangerous and stupid. One might lump into that mix riding motorcycles, skateboarding, ... give me some time and more will come to mind. I once did the funerals for two boys who got killed while out deer hunting. They were hit by a train. From what could be figured out, they tried to run across the tracks. The father of one of the boys found their bodies. They were find students, on the football team, etc. I felt sorry for them, for their families. I cannot see any difference with them and those who get ruined while sky diving, rock climbing, racing cars or jumping horses, etc. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

People who run in front of an oncoming train should not have firearms.
Well, I guess they don't anymore do they.

There are things that look like fun that are like a giant mouse trap. Every kid wants to climb up the face of the cliff. Thing is, it ten times easier to climb up something when you are looking up. We don't have eyes in our feet and it's scary as ell to try and place your feet looking down past all of your body. It's optimistic to look up. Looking down forty ft. brings out the pessimism. Ask me how I know. I am not a rock climber, but I've scared myself shi****s a time or two. I'm scared of heights but I found myself in situations where there was no choice but climb. I figured if there was no outlet, someone would send for a helo eventually.
A small percentage of the good die young. Yahoos die right and left.
I hate that, "only the good die young" verse.

I'm with you, I hate heights. When I was young they didn't bother me
but now in my older years I'm far more aware of how unforgiving gravity is.

Hum. The boys who got killed were maybe ... 17 years old. In Georgia, at least about 1988, there were no legal restrictions on teenagers of that age hunting deer w/o adult supervision while using a firearm. Can't see that their having firearms in their possession has anything at all to do with their being killed by a train. Do note ... no one had any good idea what or how exactly those two boys ended up getting hit by the train. Running in front of the train was only a idea floated about. Perhaps nowadays, someone might opine that these boys had made a suicide pact? Sincerely. bruce.
