Garbage is in the eye of the beholder ...

And that's what I see, garbage. Yes, smash it up, it's an eyesore,
and offensive to everybody, not just Islam. My opinion of course.

There was little chance I'd vacation at the Maldives, and now there's zero.

In which Islamic country is trash offensive? Or for that matter, human feces, animal guts, etc. I've traveled in 3 of them where not much offense was taken.

Not Trash, Garbage. There's a difference.
Trash is crap that goes into a landfill..
Garbage is stuff you dump on the unsuspecting public on the pretense
of it being artwork -in this case some kind of metal contraption.

My small town of 20,000 population has a really nice public park. A few years back, some city council decided we needed some "art work" there. They commissioned an artist (metal sculpture) to create something (at $5000) . The outcome was called the "Shroud". It looks like a ten foot tall dick. And that is what everyone calls it.

In front of the BofA in San Francisco is a piece of "art" - it's a big black lump that looks like coal.

My daughter took me to the Museum of Modern Art in New York. There was a Japanese bale of hay on display (the Japanese buy hay in one ton square bales -- cheaper to ship.) There was a gold-plated pitchfork and a gold thread. Someone was explaining what a great piece of art it was.

I said, "hmmm . . . suppose I bring in a ton of horse manure and a gold plated manure fork. I'll call it, 'There's gotta be a pony in here somewhere.'"

                  Hey guys

You are all criticizing the kind of abstract art that I love (seriously). So what's wrong with a 20 foot condom or a 10 foot dick? I must say however that our local art gallery (the National Gallery of Canada actually) was sort of pushing the envelope with a sculpture consisting of a pile of cut pieces of thick felt. I think that it was called something like "265 pieces of felt"

In any case, if the artwork got everybody thinking about it, then it worked its magic.

Just to be a pain, the kind of art that I hate is the kind that portrays kids with dogs or fields with cows or pictures of mountains. Easier to just take a photo.

Well, for one thing it makes it damn near impossible to zip up your pants -- and dangerous, too.

Well, Mark your right. We are discussing how stupid some art it.
