What you said with respect to the US economy is correct in that we are not purely capitalistic - but you did say that you already live in a "socialist paradise".Oh, come now. Farming Aide, Military Industrial Complex, Medical, Retirement? Aren't we all forced to contribute to this honeypot of Government programs for our benefit? Certainly Vern's favorite drum to bang is how his government social benefits didnt grow to his standards of return?
We are neither purely capatalisic, nor purely socialistic (thankfully). We are approaching a mixed economy, but cloaked as a market based economy.
To your point, not sure we have enough controls in place to capture tax revenues from major corporations to enjoy the benefits of a "Rhine Capitalism" model and the benefits of social ownership.
In truth, we should demand more for what taxes we do pay.
So I was wondering if you had moved to one of the countries that lean far to the socialist model of government and economy, while still having (at least currently) a decent standard of living.
While we have a mixed socialist/capitalist economy (and I would say that almost all countries have a mix), we are more weighted toward the capitalistic side. England, as a contrast, deliberated built (using their coined words) a "Welfare State", designed to create a support structure for a permanent non-working class. It is interesting to read some of the speeches given at the time these policies were promulgated. In truth, the Road to Hell (for an economy as for a person) is paved with Good Intentions.
Vern - I'm asking, as in the Monty Python skit, for "argument, not mere contradiction." While I generally disagree with Traxler and togor, I am willing to hear their reasoning (usually, anyway!
). If you have something to contribute, please comment.

I have never seen any reasoning.
Consider this comment: "Farming Aide, Military Industrial Complex, Medical, Retirement?" There used to be a jingle on Sesame Street, "One of these things is not like the others. One of these things doesn't belong."Comment

That's just silly. Where'd you ever hear that? And if you ever heard such a thing, why would you repeat it? Not once, but forty times?
Welcome bostonbound. Reasoned response. Not snarf, berenbroic talk(I swear, sometimes I wonder). Ya know, goofy talk never helps. I'm no literary/political A student, but I have no time for repetitive nonsensical gibberish. Get off yer asses. "It's Bush's fault", I thank God that finally went away. I'd take a good punch on the cheekbone rather than listen to Fonsanoons or Nazi over and over.

I don't know exactly how it's dispersed but I hope they are keeping a firm hand on it.If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.Comment
