Long story short, they're slightly glorified seminars that quickly come and go outside of the normal class offerings. Pop-up credits aren't degree credits. What they count towards if anything isn't clear but a reasonable guess is that they're worth zilch on the open market. At their best the "courses" are a useful way to try out material for potential new classes. But because they don't count for anything the rules on their organization are loose. The outrage potential for this one was obvious up front. Had someone asked me to approve it I would have said, "no, dumb idea!"

By all means everyone here should enjoy a full serving of outrage--seconds for Vernon since he asked--and then go back to regular life comfortable in the knowledge that nothing of consequence related to this subject happened here or up in Maine.
