Another federal handout to corporate agribusiness.

Trump tells EPA to authorize 15% ethanol in gas...as if the 10% mix wasn't causing enough problems.

Here's what Popular Mechanics says about it: https://www.popularmechanics.com/car...-e15-15096134/

hey look at that, togor & CH on the same side of an issue. Somewhere in hell an icicle just formed.

PS: in places like Wisconsin & Minnesota you can get ethanol free premium. In Minnesota they warn you that if they catch you putting it into your car they'll immolate you with it. In Wisconsin they just say "ethanol-free premium". Outboards & chain saws do not like Ethanol.

the stations you can find lead free gas at are few and far between around here. this ethanol sucks all around. its less efficient as fuel, costs more to make, and raises corn costs which increases food costs. i havent bitched about much that trump has done, but this one is a big F up.

Year after year I always checked the gas milage for ever tank of gas. It was just a curiosity thing to tell me the health of the car... or quality of gas brand to brand .

When gasoline first started to be polluted with corn alcohol you still had a choice and so I experimented . Tank after tank after tank .... gasoline with ethanol produced a 10 % drop in fuel economy in all my vehicles... each and every time .

So... the theory that 10% corn alcohol mixed with gasoline means we burn less gas is ..... a fallacy.

Add the fact that we need to pay for the procedures and transportation to mix these two items ......and need we be reminded the increase in the cost of corn flakes etc due to less availability of corn ?

Welfare is welfare ..... want that Momma with three multi racial kids to get a real job ?.... me too.... but I'll say the same damn thing to a corn farmer ..... cause I don't need his vote

Pure-Gas.org list locations for ethanol-free gas.

Pure-gas.org is the definitive web site listing stations that sell pure gasoline in the U.S. and Canada.

Agree. While Trump is trying to help the farmers and keep the price of gasoline low I don't know if we can stomach 15%. The ethanol doesn't only cause problems with carburetor and other fuel system seals it reduces HP and MPG.

Better to use that excess corn for cattle feed, corn meal, grits and whiskey.

"Farmers" like the Cargill Corp., most profitable mega-corporation in the country. Helping them at the cost of hurting livestock producers & every other consumer of corn-based food products. Unbelievable, with this opposed by every other special interest group in the country, from oil producers to environmentalists, that the corn lobby could push this through.

The worst part is we are depleting our aquifers to please a bunch of 'environmentalists'. The amount of water we are wasting is absurd.

The depletion part is true, but it sure isn't being done to please 'environmentalists'; it's done to please corn & other crop producers.

The whole 'oxygenated fuel' farce was the brainchild of the enviros. I agree with you that Big Corn is pushing hard to keep the ethanol in gas, but it started with the bunny huggers. They read about the Brazilians success with sugar cane derived ethanol and connected dots which are not there.

More energy is consumed to make a gallon of ethanol than is saved by burning a gallon of ethanol. Doesn't make sense. Why don't they make something useful from corn like food or whiskey?

Well, the bunny huggers have seen the error of their ways, & changed their position 180 degrees. When use of ethanol was first proposed many yrs ago, it seemed to me also a practical, reasonable, idea (an infinitely renewable source of fuel), because the multitude of problems that it causes were not known then. But they're certainly well known NOW, which makes this decision of Trump so utterly deplorable.
