    Hypocrisy

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the Republican House Conference Chair, is in a very, very tight race in her eastern Washington State congressional district. She’s fielding a challenge from Lisa Brown, who isn't just a former state Senate majority leader, but one with healthcare policy experience. So of course McMorris Rodgers is lying about the Affordable Care Act, pre-existing condition protections, and Republican plans.

McMorris Rodgers, who voted nine times to fully repeal the ACA and overturn protections for people with pre-existing conditions, is now telling her constituents how important those protections are for her and her family, including her son with Down syndrome. This somehow hadn't occurred to her the nine times she voted to end them.

Re: Finger in the wind. Yep! It's good for the left-wing liberal demokrats. Cannot see any reason why conservative Republicans should not use the same method. After all, it has proven so very successful for various bait and switch democrat candidates. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

You can always recognize a democrat by his or her long nose

Why, oh why, oh why, do Repubs continually cut their own throats by babbling about gov't spending, when Dems win elections by promising the moon? The mongrelized population of the country doesn't CARE about red ink, deficit spending, & the national debt, so long as the supply of free stuff keeps coming at gov't expense. What may happen "down the road" is irrelevant to the here & now, which is where elections are won or lost; so I hope Repubs match Dems promise for promise.

Then what would be the difference between Republicans and Democrats? Both parties would be leading the country to ruin, competing with each other to propose the most disastrous programs. We have to have one party that believes in responsible government!

That would work fine in a country with a clear majority who believed in responsible government; is the US any longer such a country? I don't think so; it if were, there'd be no Obamacare, for ex., & no debate over protecting our borders. If you go down in defeat because your opponent out-promised you, how then can you accomplish anything positive?

And if you slavishly imitate your opponent, how can you accomplish anything he could not?
