The definition of Democracy is mob rule.

It has it's annoying aspects to be sure but if the principle of our country is Government by Consent of the Governed then you have to do something to give the people a means of aiming their consent. The regime in Venezuela hangs on despite having lost the support of a majority of the country by playing heavily to a minority base and using repressive tactics otherwise. Same for Iran and don't get me started about Putin, Red China or North Korea.

The definition of Democracy is mob rule.

Most certainly it is when there are no safeguards to weed out the socially irresponsible & mentally deficient; "one man, one vote," the most pernicious political doctrine ever conceived, is absolutely the definition of mob rule! Property requirements, poll taxes, & voter qualification tests were rational attempts to do just that--create an "informed electorate" with something to loose if ill-conceived laws were put into effect. Such laws could & were used to discriminate against minorities, but misuse of a well-intentioned law doesn't invalidate the principal behind it.
