    Suffragettes and poverty in 1914 London ...

    All I can say is, I'm glad I was born when I was which wasn't then.
    Of course the photographs depict only the poverty, which bad as it
    was, was a distinct improvement from Dickens' time.

      Absolutely fantastic remnants of the past regardless of the cause behind it. The clothing, the furniture, the buildings.....
      In our day of digitized & unprinted pics I fear most of our days may be all but lost to history. Finding a box of prints vs. finding an old nondescript chip centuries from now. The equipment we used to read floppy disks has already been disposed of.

        Read "Angela's Ashes" -- it's about Frank McCourt's childhood in the Liberties in Dublin in the 1930s -- the Liberties was the poorest slum in Europe.
