As for your explanation, so what? People scream at each other through the media. Most Americans can handle it even if they don't like all the noise. Those elements that can't, and spawn violent acts, need to be dealt with sternly. Your proposed solutions seem to either be that we give the right wing crazies what they want, or maybe hire therapists to gently treat them, or pretend that they don't really exist--all ideas that deny the problem. So there's no difference that the "other side" has every major American TV news service (except lonely Fox), newspaper, opinion magazine, to spout their hate & slander, whereas Trump has Twitter & I have this board. No difference in the capacity to "stir up negative emotions"?
