Nancy Pelosi has just been handed a political hot potato and if she is not careful she will get burned. The left will now want "revenge" in the form of subpoenas and what not against President Trump. The President can simply ignore as Obama did, so what does she do? Does she continue to play to the Democratic Leftist Base and nothing gets done in the way of legislation? Does she revert to being a legislator and try to work with the Republicans in the Senate/President to get the work of the American People done? Either way she is in a lose-lose position that also risks her losing what she wants most, the power and prestige of the position of Speaker of the House.
It will be interesting to see what her party will let her do and I wish her well in whatever road she chooses. "May she live in interesting times!"

Somehow I don't think the Democrats see themselves as worse off for controlling the House. Sure there are decisions to make, but file this under the category of "the right kind of problem to have".

It is what it is. Just about never happens that incumbent president holds seats in house. Usually looses. Sometimes ... get a "shellacking." This time, ... a loss. Expected and predictable. The wicked witch of the west will make a nice target for 2020. Political potshots will be fired at will. Given the target, hits will not be hard to make. Take into account routine changeable political winds/gusts/lulls ... should be able to get plenty of 10's and X's. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

Trump has endorsed Peelosi for Speaker of the House. He fully understands that no matter who or what they call Mr. or Madame Speaker, it will still be Peelosi, Waters, Harris, et. al. that are actually running the show and DJT simply wants that to be clear to he voters.

It takes 218 votes to impeach the President. Upon an impeachment vote, the Senate is required to hold a trial. It would be virtually impossible to get a two thirds vote in the Senate to convict, BUT, what if the Dems vote to impeach 10 times... or 100 times??? In the new House, the Democrats can get 218 votes with a snap of Peelosi's fingers

Bottom line is that is probably what motivates the President to endorse her... with all those impeachments, investigations, and hearings going on, nothing else will happen in Congress and that could very well be a good thing and leave Trump time to appoint more SCOTUS judges, make more trade agreements, build a wall, bring more jobs to the U.S., and to continue to reduce the ridiculous number of useless government rules and regulations.

At least now, we are side stepping into the abyss instead of goose-stepping into it like we would if the Socialists had also won the Senate.
