    On the menu for Illinois

    Among the ballot referendums:

Legalize weed to fund schools. (That's what the lottery was supposed to be doing since 1974. Gee, where has all that money gone?)
State licensing of gun dealers in addition to the Federal and municipal permits. Will cut down on crime. (Another crooked revenue generator designed to shut down gun shops.)
Stiffer penalties for gun running. (No more private sales or inheritance without high fees and extensive paper trails)
Ban plastic straws. (parents aren't old enough to remember kids choking on the inhaled pieces of paper) (Their grandparents have obviously forgotten they wanted the move to plastic to Save The Trees)
Raise the minimum wage. (Chicago did so why not the rest of the state? We LOVE paying too much for lousy service and you need to be able to raise a family of 8 as a deep fry operator)
More sick leave for government workers. (Our taxes aren't quite high enough yet?)
Property tax exemptions for long term property owners (OK, we had that until a couple of years ago. Then they inflated the assessments to make up....for something. Tax cuts and extra sick leave? We're going to be screwed somewhere we didn't think possible.)

All in all nothing has changed. Just like Taco Bell. All the same crap with newly made up names and different color presentation.
    2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

Legalize weed to fund schools ? Weed is the No. 1 reason why schools are such a waste.
Here in NJ it was proposed that for property owners over 65 their taxes would be deferred until they died or the property was sold. That meant their heirs would get nothing, it would have been a confiscatory tax on modest estates.

Gambling casinos and lotteries were made legal here in Iowa years ago and a percentage on proceeds was to go to education. Today are schools are scrambling for more money and laying off teachers. So yeah what happened to all that money?

It'll go to line the pockets of bureaucrats and support crooked politicians.

Simply more dem/progressive thievery. My local dems had the elderly sweeping floors and cleaning toilets in the county building to pay their property taxes, while they were providing free housing and transportation to their clients, who had never paid a cent of tax in their lives. Regards, Clark

It's a big river of tax money and it's still not enough. Maybe we will go full Roman and have naked women fighting to the death. Only $5 admission. All the weed you can smoke. You can bet on the outcome. The libs will be tsk, tsking, it's awful what they are doing to those poor women. Well, it costs money for sex changes. You can't have it all.

Re: Schools and money. What happened? Funds from gambling were put into the pot. Funds from other sources were diverted to other needs. Result is a net loss of funding for schools. No different than when tobacco settlement money was misused by states, etc. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.
