What next will they ban, wood piles ?

I have a Golliwog enamel lapel pin. Had it since I was a kid.
I may have rescued it from drowning in a jam jar. Or maybe not.

'It looks like an aberration. I suspect the owner will say these are antiques, but we're not in that time now.
    Um , , , yeah. That's why they're called "antiques."

It's the function of the Ministry of Truth to bring the past up to date.

The phrase "the 'wogs begin at Calais" was not meant as a complement to those on the other side of the channel.

Neither was the term Fuzzie Wuzzie but don't let that out of the bag lest they start the same crap over that one.

Wonder what antique dealers in this country are doing with their stock of porch monkeys? But I guess a little white paint would make them PC again...maybe.

Well, that is a question. I noticed a golliwog band. If they were white, would that be racist? Are Barbi Dolls and GI Joe Action figures racist?

Kipling wrote a poem, "Fuzzy Wuzzy"-
"So 'eres to you, Fuzzy-Wuzzy at your 'ome in the Soudan
You're a poor benighted 'eathen but a first class fightin' man"

That's Frogs not Wogs. Wogs are in the Mid East.

                      DT, from the wiki page:

The saying, "The wogs begin at Calais" (implying that everyone who is not British is a wog), appears to date from the First World War but was popularised by George Wigg, Labour MP for Dudley, in 1949 when in a parliamentary debate concerning the Burmese, Wigg shouted at the Conservative benches, "The Honourable Gentleman and his friends think they are all 'wogs'. Indeed, the Right Honourable Member for Woodford [i.e., Winston Churchill] thinks that the 'wogs' begin at Calais."[5]

That's immaterial. Truth is you'll never hear an Englishman
or Britain for that matter refer to the French as wogs.
That term is for Mid Easterners.
The French are jokingly called Frogs because of their fondness
                        for Frog legs.

DT there was a chauvinism to the Imperial troops that crossed the channel in the Great War. The ones who used to talk that way were sacrificed on the altar of German MGs.
