Teacher fired because he hurt wussy's feelings ...

Crap like this which is ever more prevalent, makes
you wonder if America can be wrested back from the
    snowflakes.

Too bad people cant go through life blocking out reality to feel safe, like they do forum posts. Snowflakes indeed!

Nor I. Things like patriotism and character are out of fashion these days.

That was back when people who lived here were citizens.

It was also before welfare and the free rides that democrats get these days. Thank LBJ for that---there is NOTHING a democrat can't screw up.

Well society is less regimented now, more geared towards indivuality. That's certainly true. But capitalism sees that as a marketing opportunity and surely you won't argue with capitalism. Are people less honest these days, with honesty being a common measure of character? I don't think so. They are in general less violent. As for patriotism: compared to the 1930s? Post Vietnam? Right after 9/11? Height of WW2? If the argument is that people don't give a sh*t about each other or the country anymore, well I don't see it locally. Country may be changing but not necessarily for the worse.

In a country where speakers of one political bent are shouted down, cars are burned, and the daughter of a newsman is attacked for her father's political beliefs, no one can honestly say, "society is less regimented now, more geared towards individuality."

Sure one can. Turn on the TV get on the web. Capitalism caters to the idea that the individual has unlimited choices. Google and Apple and Facebook literally monetize activity to the individual person level. Also true that crazies find each other on the web.

Yes we also Stood and recited the Pledge. In addition we also said The Lords Prayer. And this was in Massachusetts. What happened?

The lead story reflects the latest trend in the country. Woosies staging a protest then throwing a tantrum when they aren't hailed as heroes. Then they play victim and have somebody else flex muscle on their behalf out of vengeance. Getting even for something they started in the first place.
The really sad part is those in a position of authority (muscle) are such PC woosies themselves. Living on the edge of any crusade and taking the so-called more popular route as a matter of self preservation.
