The benefits of raising the minimum wage

Arkansas voters voted to raise the minimum wage. And last week the Mountain View City Council met to review the budget. With the raise in minimum wage, people will have to be laid off. Their decision was to zero out the police department and buy police services from the Sheriff.

Do people not understand that a $7.50 an hour job that you have pays more than a $15.00 job that doesn't exist?

Those who get the $15 will be them. Not the other guy. Then they'll discover their $4 sandwiches now cost $9 and the paid sales tax has thereby doubled. The remedy? Stay in school. Learn something useful in life....nah.
Election time comes around often enough they may someday get $25 ph to make up for it.

"But you can't raise a family on minimum wage!"

Here's a hot flash -- a family is an OBLIGATION, not a right. If you can't meet your obligations, don't take them on! Work your way up until you CAN afford a family before you start one.

People who skate through life and not prepare for it can't expect the same pay and lifestyle of the dedicated and educated.

If only we had access to a Social Worker here on the forum, someone who from their learning could point out the ways that being born into poverty grinds on kids, making it hard for them to learn their letters and numbers, much less the moral and ethical teachings of our society. Someone who could remind us with authority that hey, it's not the fault of the kid that they were born.

If you are over 20 years old and work for minimum wage... THAT'S YOUR FAULT. The purpose of the minimum wage has never been to finance raising a family. It is a entry level thing meant primarily for part time workers, high school or college students. If you were too dumb in high school to not do your homework, to not learn how to speak American English, to not be able to do the 3 R's. then you deserve to live in poverty. Hello, every single job I've ever had I moved forward. Sometimes I had set backs and had to basically start over. Once upon a time I had a job that paid pretty well. I had a new company car every year, I had 4 weeks paid vacation every year and a expense account that allowed me to take my buyers, my chain store owners, etc out to dinner. My regional manager commended me when I sent in a expense item for $1,250 for a dinner for 12 people... in 1990. "that's the way it's done..." was the praise I received. Two years later the company was bought out and and I was making $12,000 per year on a commission only job. I did that job so well I was promoted and within 18 months I was making $30,000, a company car, and expenses paid.

The stupids think the only job for anybody in America that is important is a minimum wage job. A job that is actually only meant young people starting out or to the human debris that don't want to work, and have neglected to learn the basic skills... the 3 R's.

Minimum wage increases, reduce the the number of minimum jobs available. Go to the grocery store and you will see self check out lanes outnumber the check out clerks. The minimum wage at work.

Stupid personalized. You think that government regulations are the only thing that allows humanity to survive.

Cut out all the rewards and quit paying bonuses for illegitimate children and illegitimate procreation will be reduced tremendously.

Twist and turn, lie and burn... Have you no morals? Your ideas of total government control of every aspect of human life, shows you are a Communist, anti American, traitor and I can't believe that other people here allow your hate speech.

You've put your finger on it -- liberals think government must control everything.

I had a conversation with the Chairman of our County Democrat Committee. He couldn't for the life of him understand how IRAs work -- he kept asking "Where is the money KEPT? Which government office controls your investments?"

Babies happen because people have unprotected sex. Shocking! I know, right? People usually have sex because they're turned on. Long term financial planning may not be in the equation when they're in rut.

                          More stupidity...

Girls and boys have sex and that goes back a million years. Back when America was great, when a boy got a girl pregnant they got married. Today marriage is frowned open... that means the daddy has to support the kid... That's BS today because if they don't get married the single mother of a bastard gets more money and benefits from the Federal and State welfare than if she had no kid and was working. The daddy walks away free and clear.

It don't take long term financial planning to do the right thing. But people like you with no moral substance think it is a government problem.

Hate and burn, twist and turn, a complete lack of moral values, don't know right from wrong, hopes our country will collapse, and come back as George Orwell predicted.

Red the objective reality is that poor people aren't the best at weighing long term consequences to short term acts. You know this but just want to argue for the fun of it.

He's going to stroke out if you keep implying that poor decisions have consequences. Take for instance our Chief Executive...
