The thing is....he didn't personally do any of those things. He is claiming association with those who did. Think of a football game. Are the points scored in the third quarter worth more than those scored in the second? The Europeans found their footing in the Renaissance by rediscovering the classics of antiquity, of Mediterranean culture, as well as teachings in astronomy and arithmetic from the Arab world. The food crops of Europe were originally domesticated in SW Asia. Everyone stands on the shoulders of someone else. Awwww.....poor kid. Of course, taking credit for something you had no part of is generally not what college is about. Probably this ding in his social status hurts you personally. I take a free market conservative view. He's free to express his ideas, and if his ideas are judged to be poor by the market, then the market is free to reject him. If he really got loaded and started ragging unsolicited on some blacks with cell phones, and he got a poor market outcome as a result, then in my book the market works as it should. You apparently think we need rules so that affluent white punks can get a snootful and talk down to others without repercussions.

Was thinking about that very situation, JB. We know that he would be pilloried here. On CNN, probably you wouldn't see it. But Fox or Brietbart would have it. And if he did get the crap beat out of him, people would say that he had it coming.

An example from Massachusetts, from a D-3 basketball game. Black kid takes a egregious cheap shot at an opponent while still mad about a non-call at the other end, and not only is he booted from the team, he is kicked off of campus, suspended indefinitely. FWIW, after getting up, the other kid stayed in the game. Mention of this incident is not that hard to find in the media, and so far no one is excusing it because the kid is black, or comes from a crappy home life, is a victim of systemic racism, etc. Not seeing any of that.

I hear a lot of talk about how minorities supposedly have all the advantages. Funny thing is that if you talk to them, and you can, JB, they don't see it that way at all. Dealing with the cops, for one thing, is a way dicier proposition for minorities. I don't think there is any argument on that, even around here.

People like to say that the white people built this world. Maybe it's true, but it's also true that the brown and yellow people in Asia are dead-set on building the next one. So people can get stuck on the past glories of being white or get busy figuring out how to compete in the world to come. Trump right now is engaged in a standoff with China over tech dominance in the future. It's one of the areas where I actually agree with what he wants to do, even as I have doubts about his ability to out-game the Chinese, or US industry, which tends to take a decidedly multi-national view in pursuit of earnings. Anyways, the irony is that the tech industry that Trump wants to keep relevant is currently staffed heavily by immigrants.
