Lily the Muppet is both hungry and homeless ...

If Sesame Street is now delving into politics with such subjects as
homelessness, then can queers and transgenders be far behind ?
Of course, not having watched the show since my Son was 24" tall
they may have covered that already for all I know.

After all, it is Public Television, which was basically re-purposed to be the propaganda arm of the Great Society.

And of course the only answer is a government program.

Personally do not like this stuff. But, politics and children's stories are both as old as Mother Goose. Sincerely. bruce.

Oscar the grouch lives in a garbage can. I think he is an original character of the Muppets. The difference is the kids aren't brainwashed into feeling pity for him and he doesn't ask for handouts.

Many kids in this country are homeless and hungry. So why aren't the parents being held accountable? There's numerous work programs, free child care, free school with free meals and of course welfare. Along with this there are millions at our borders wanting in to make the problem worse.

For some parents their basic "needs" are tobacco, alcohol, drugs and not in any particular order I have seen that. 45 years ago I was chastised by a neighbor as to why "I" wouldn't buy his babies diapers, while the guy stood there smoking his cigarette. I asked him why he didn't take the money he spent for the tobacco and buy the diapers. His answer was that his welfare wouldn't cover his tobacco and after all I had a good paying job and could "help" him and his family. The guy could work but refused and the more babies the better the benefits!

This thread brought to us by the letter "D"? How damnably awful, positively un-Christian one might say, for Sesame Street to be indoctrinating small children with crazy ideals like empathy for the poor and homeless.

A show set in the inner-city with a predominance of "minority" characters not political? Only surprising thing is that homos aren't there now; or are they? Transfreaks is the correct term.

A couple, as in queers I suppose. I always liked cartoons, not the puppet stuff so I guess I missed this.

Thank God Kermit and Miss Piggy portrayed a normal relationship. I suppose their offspring would look like....

Frog legs that taste like ham?

A rooster and a goose could make a gooster I suppose if they didn't chicken out.

How about an episode brought to you by the letters "P" and "R"-for Personal Responsibility ? Or "F" and "V" for Family Values ?
I recall one of our Canadian noted that up there the so-called "distressed families" always have money for beer and weed and the kids have to be enrolled in school nutrition programs. And Roe v. Wade was to ensure that every child would be "wanted and loved."
If a program on Public Television is try to encourage Christian values in the young...isn't there a 1st Amendment issue there ?
