Walls do work if the people have the will to enforce what it stands for. Look at Israel; unfortunately I don't think America has the guts or will to stand up to the political fallout, but it would stop illegal immigration. Maybe not the criminal immigration

Before we build a border wall, we can learn a lot from what Israel has done to combat terrorists, smugglers and illegal immigrants.

Article about that comparison. The Israeli barrier is only 440 miles long, and a small fraction of that is concrete. Fix the immigration laws first, which will involve a political compromise on people who have been here for a long time.

The Great Wall of China works. The Chinese still don’t have a Mexican problem.

Unfortunately the rest of the world has a Chinese problem. It would be nice if that wall kept them in and kept others out.

Go after the employers, the landlords, the welfare paper pushers. Everyone who benefits by exploiting the illegals.

Exactly! But, problem is that would impact the people who profit off the porous border! Profiteers are primarily the employers who want cheap labor and companies that rent apartments, houses, etc. to illegal aliens. Treat them exactly the same as anyone accused of drug dealing, i.e., confiscation of money, property, etc. Regardless of if they are convicted, they would be faced with the same problems of recovering their property, etc., as are faced by individuals who are accused of drug crimes. Use exactly the same penalties, etc. Result would be as successful as has been the efforts in the war on drugs. Sincerely. bruce.

It is a tactical axiom that obstacles must be covered by fire. The wall, the barbed wire, the minefield, the anti-tank ditch is there to slow the enemy up so you can deal with them. The same thing holds true for the wall. You must have the will to defend it.

Now I have said before, it isn't the difficulty in crossing the border that is critical -- it's the bait on this side that lures the illegals. Take away the bait, and you won't need a wall.

Walls / barriers are to keep out who's not here; no question the laws have to be changed. But the subject is about walls / barriers.
