same crap on both sides of the pond

Got this from a friend in the UK as a New Year message when it struck 12:00 GMT. Interesting take on the current state of affairs and aside from some names, parallels much of what's happening here in the USA. She even does a bit on Trump vs.Hillary. Just to be fair, of course.

Hopefully you can understand 'broken English'! LOL

A big difference is that if the UK doesn't figure something out, then big changes hit them after 29-March. Over here we face no similar deadline.

"Why don't we just vote on this and see what is there!" to paraphrase Pelosi many years ago. Wonder what she will say this time?

Watching what England is going through is like watching the Titanic slowly slip beneath the waves.

You'll note that I said England as I think the rest of Britain might be spared.

That could be true -- but note that both Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to STAY in the EU.

My thought wasn't about Brexit so much as the influx of muslims
into England. Hopefully the Scots will repel them. Or maybe
Nessie will eat them on their way up north.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland voted collectively in favor of Brexit. Scotland's vote is meaningless. However, it does raise some issues because of the open border between the two, but they don't have a say in the matter.

That is evidence of the flaw in the entire EU. IMHO it was a mistake from the beginning and Brexit is it's first real test. Either you are an independent country or you are a territory and belong to somebody else that makes the rules. America made that decision sometime around 1776.

What you never hear about are the members of the EU that are in dire straits and about to collapse. Greece is a prime example along with Portugal, Italy and even the vaulted German economy is struggling.

The entire structure is flawed and the influx of immigrants are over running local cultures and straining national resources to the limit.

              Yep, that is my opinion...

Prior to Brexit, the Scots held a plebiscite regarding secession from the UK. The vote was close but in favor of remaining part of the UK. If England & Wales exit the EU, then Scotland must follow. The majority of negative comments and grumblings out of Edinburgh are from the large but losing side of that vote.

                    .
The United Kingdom as a whole voted to leave the EU -- but locally, the "stay in" votes outnumbered the "get out" votes in both Scotland and Northern Ireland.
