"If anything can go wrong, it will" ...

Thus spoke Murphy. But even he didn't know who or what
    mystically caused the things to go wrong. Now we know;
It's Climate Change. And the latest victims are those trees
that look like umbrellas, commonly known as Baobabs.
A cynic like myself might suggest that at sometime during
the 3,000 year lifespan of an aforementioned Baobab tree,
it might have experienced at least once a temperate climate
much like today's. One wonders how it managed to survive
    then but not now ?

Hmmm, much thought to my answer. 8-)
No gas engine emissions then, no holes in the ioninisphere, very small human population, no democrats spewing foul breath, no dinosauer farts, etc.

I'm sure with the dimocrats taking over the house this month they will declare it is Trump's fault.

These trees are in the middle of nowhere, they do not line a freeway.
They're in Africa - Africa is hot - Africa has always been hot.
The ionosphere has been plugged with empty hair spray cans.

Perhaps drier or moister soil conditions, fungus, bugs, mold? They appear to be upside down anyway. As far as emissions go the earth rotates and winds carry krap to all parts of the world. It doesn't do us much good to try to save the world here with cleaner air when countries like China have a free for all and pollute w/o restrictions.

Is it possible they have reached the end of their life cycle?

Nobody knows why they're dying -- so instead of doing a little science, we do politics and blame it on Global Warming <tm>.

Probably a victim of aquifer depletion.

How did the polar bears survive the various warm spells a few hundred years ago?
