Malacca Bob Glennon, a friend of mine, tells of one in his experience. They were putting on a show for visiting foreign naval officers, and one of the acts was to demonstrate mid-air refueling directly over the carrier. Now the normal method is the aircraft to be refueled comes in at about the speed of the tanker and slowly creeps up on him. But the pilot selected for this demo was a hot-dogger and proved it. He came around at high speed, and at the last second popped the air brakes. It was beautiful -- except he hadn't told the weapons officer, who was half asleep beside him. The wizzo woke up to see they were about to fly up the tailpipe of the tanker, and popped the ejection seat.
Nothing daunted, the pilot continued the mission and refueled -- with 15 feet of ejection seat rail sticking through the canopy.Comment

An Israeli F-15 lost a wing and the pilot brought it in. I'll try to find the viddie or an article.

There was a USN aviator that took-off from air Station and realized he didnot swing the wings into flight position,
declared an emergency and landed.
The CO had a gentle talking with him. he flew the next day.Comment

There was a Marine who did that on a night bombing run in Viet Nam. The aircraft was virtually uncontrollable. It took a while to figure out that the wings were still up. He flew around until he burned off enough fuel to land -- but never did jettison his bombs. He landed gear-up and scattered bombs all over the runway. The squadron commander was up, and was so incensed that he landed beside him -- also gear-up. And cut the power to the runway lights in the process.
Needless to say, this occasioned a little humor at his expense.Comment
