Are government employees living hand to mouth ? ...

If their paychecks are delayed for a couple of weeks
due to the shut down are they really going to suffer
that much ? Will the bank foreclose ? Will their kids
find nothing in their lunch boxes ? Will their spouses
file for divorce because their partner has failed to provide ?
Are they paid so poorly that they don't have enough
saved to see them through a few weeks ? What a bunch
of useless cry babies. Is it any wonder that the government
in general is held in such low esteem.
It's possible that I do these people a disservice and it's not
they who are complaining but the Nancys and Chucks and
their media hacks who whine on their behalf.

Most people I imagine like to get paid for working.

I can imagine the uproar if SS direct deposit missed a month. Empathy not DT's strong suit.

There is something here worth thinking about. The Republicans could not care less about the problems their wall fixation causes for anyone employees of the federal government or otherwise. The demokrats could not care less about the problems their refusal to accept 11/16 is causing for anyone employees of the federal government or otherwise. To either side it just doesn't matter. Now, if their little yak yak was actually to cause some problems for the people who matter to them ... the people who put money in their campaigns ... you know, then there would probably be some efforts made to resolve this current bit of political kabuki. It is some indication of Trumps inexperience in dealing with people who don't work for him. It is most certainly an indication of the demokrats inexperience is dealing with someone who does not consider them equals. Either way, it is the sort of stupid mess that results when people dig their heels in and burn their bridges in front of themselves. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

We must remember it is not all gov't employees. No sure how landlords, car note holders, utilities companies are going to handle late payments or how it might affect their credit scores. What I do know is I have a son who is a young Coastguardsmen and his shipmates are getting concerned especially those who do not bank with the Navy Federal Credit Union. Remember E2-E4 don't make a lot of money.

Easy solution, the Dems just need to approve the wall costs again instead of fighting everything Trump does. They approved one a few years ago and for a lot more money. I'm sorry I just can't understand how any American would be against securing it's borders, Ray

Issue is not that anyone beyond far left extremists oppose securing the borders. Issue is that the demokrats desperately need the issue for the 2020 election cycle. That is all. It appeals to their base as does the push for a wall appeals to the far right. No difference with the way either side acts on other issues such as abortion, debt, gender bending, crime, second amendment, etc. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.

Destroy your country just because of your personal dislike of the man proposing it. Forget about the issue, just oppose it! Very sad indeed when this happens to a country. Ray

The Democrat Party "leadership" is feeling its oats after the November elections, believing they can make more political hay by churning an issue that should have been settled a year ago, very publicly with the assistance of the "news industry".

I received my social security money today, as usual. Now, with the IRS being hamstrung, I wonder when I'll get my Federal refund.

No, their tactic is to destroy the country to increase their power and win the next election.

Trump didn't help in the midterms, did he?

Vern, have you noticed that where rats go their "trail" is continued to be observed with little drops contaminating the AO, not much different then National Socialism.

Those of us who have worked in the private sector-which pays for the public sector-and who have endured its vicissitudes-have little sympathy for those who have not. And I have known plenty of people with earnings above $150,000 who live hand to mouth.
