More garbage from the left-wing APA. When I first became a psychologist most of the practitioners were conservative and level headed. This all changed when President Kennnedy came up with his idea for community mental health centers and Lyndon Johnson followed this with the Great Society. An enormous amount of government cash was set aside for grants so that the members of the APA could pursue their own favorite research projects. The amount of real knowledge produced by all this activity would fit inside a thimble.
The APA is now entirely dominated by liberals and the vast majority are Democrats. Those who hold university appointments brain-wash their students with the kind of crap typified by this article. The more something defies common sense the greater the appeal. I stopped going to the conventions many years ago because I couldn't stand what was being preached. I could furnish dozens of examples but I don't want this post to get any longer.
