    Trump Cancels Polosi's Trip

She is crying like a baby over this

The president responded to the House speakers’ request with an apparent retaliation against her upcoming delegation trip.

    ...and the beat goes on.

The wall as proposed by Trump isn't popular enough to get funded through regular business, even when the GOP controlled both houses. Therefore Trump takes the government hostage via the shutdown in an attempt to get it through added leverage. A wise man once said that if you have to hold a gun to someone's head to get something then it probably isn't yours to begin with.

Hell just froze over, I agree to some extent with Togor's comment. Since the Republican's had control of both houses, why didn't the wall get funded?

Trump has never had a Republican house. As we all know it was always 50-75% RINO's. The bill probably wouldn't have gotten passed then either and it would make Trump look weak since his own alleged "party" didn't support him. This way it had a 100% chance to not pass making the dimocrats look weak. I suppose Trump may have something up his sleeve, if nothing else he is prepping everyone for 2020 by showing the voters what side of the fence the dimocrats are on.

Because the Republicans in congress were part of the establishment wanting to satisfy the Chamber of commerce need for cheap labor at the expense of American citizens.

The wall is popular based on it being one of the top three agendas to ensure Hillary's defeat.

The wall is popular with the People but not the looking votes/cheap labor crowd.

Its time the People were listened to not the elite.

Trump screwed this up. He should have let them go, then when they wanted to come BACK told them, "Sorry. Can't do it. Shutdown, you know."

Trump never was in "control" of either the House or the Senate... not once, not ever! Those that claim he was are haters, liars, cheaters and "never Trumpsters."

That's what makes me want to beat my brains out in despair. This once-in-a-lifetime Golden Opportunity simply frittered away! And not merely "one of" his campaign promises, but the one at the top of the heap, the "flagship" of all his promises! So now he makes a "last stand" with this idiotic shut-down that CAN'T succeed, at the cost of alienating many of the very people who voted for him!

This is true; however, if he'd drawn a line in the sand THEN, shutdown the gov't THEN, with control of both houses, even the RINOs would have been forced to take action.

There is a problem with that approach. Remember that Trump's speciality is negotiations. Had he pressed the issue early, what would happen with the tax cut, the NAFTA deal, the Chinese trade issue, NATO, the Global warming issue, etc. He had to pick and choose, the wall was a block on the other deals so he had to wait. When it became time he dug in his heels and I hope he literally goes to the wall with this. It is the difference of a collapsing dictatorial Socialist government vs a democratic republic country based on the U.S. Constitution.

There is not a single Bill of Rights amendment that is supported by the new NAZI's.

And then there is this headline on WAPO:
