Do-gooder Missionaries should be cooked and eaten ...

All they've ever done as far as I can tell is cause trouble
by trying to dump their religious dogma on to naive natives
and passing on a host of germs the natives have no resistance
against. This guy should do his missionary work in prison.
That is if the natives haven't eaten him.
    Ugh, him taste like crap.

And why would a tribe in the jungle need a GPS ?

    so,

do you recommend soaking in Italian dressing or Worcestershire sauce before griling?

    or,

maybe a good brine to soak in, then roast in the oven?

One of the major impetuses for the expansion of the British Empire was middle-class religious zeal, responding to a felt calling from God to bring the blessings of Christendom to the darker corners of the planet.

Such as ending the slave trade in Africa.

Now the Do Gooders want to brink all the poor, dumb, downtrodden to this country. Same sentiments; we have to help.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Some of them think that way for sure, and they're wrong. But some of the Do Gooders are trying to get birth control into those same lands to knock down the birth rate, which is a good idea, and the pious Bible thumpers here try to thwart that any way they can, and they're wrong. And the isolationists who want to pretend these other countries and their problems don't exist--except when their natural resources are required to fuel our economy--are wrong because the worse off these countries get, the more economic migrants they create. And don't get me started on the climate change deniers.

So if you're going to call out the people who are wrong on this subject, make a proper list.

Reminds me of the cannibals -- they were sick, throwing up and so on. They called in the witch doctor. "What have you guys been eating?"

"Just that missionary who came through here the other day."

                  "What kind of missionary?"

"The usual kind -- black robe, shaved head."

                  "How did you cook him?"

                  "Broiled him."

"Well, there's your problem. That was a friar, not a broiler."

In general, missionaries FOLLOWED the armies -- they didn't LEAD them.

But the empire was sustained for several generations by middle class Britons who went overseas to run things, in part sustained by the conviction that they were doing the Lord's work. Their role is often overlooked.

We gave them trains, roads, schools and plumbing in exchange
                            for their natural resources.
We gave China Opium in exchange for Tea.

Name some of the indispensable natural resources we're getting from Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala?
