    Concealed carry?

Curious how many have a concealed carry permit? Impossible in my home state but I can get one in a neighboring state where we have a second home. I see South Dakota just went to no permit needed. I never did agree with the "open carry" movement, how would law enforcement know if the guy walking into the bank was going to make a "deposit" or a "withdrawal"? Washington state just passed a 21year age limit on buying a semi-auto rifle, why not for a drivers license as teenaged drivers kill way more people with cars than semi-auto rifles? Raise the enlistment age in the armed services to 21?

Interesting.... Back during the Vietnam era you could be drafted at 18 and there was a movement to reduce the voting age and the age for alcohol use to 18. The alcohol thing passed in some states but was subsequently was reversed. The voting right is still at 18 and perhaps a bigger disaster than the alcohol age.

Ohio has a license you must earn, having been an instructor I had mine since day one. "Don't leave home without Sigmund." Ohio has open carry and the states Attorney General stated in an opinion to police that a Citizen cannot be stopped for questioning just for open carry. Now if you go into a business with a posted at the door Ghost Buster sign then you have already broken the law.

I always thought it somehow odd that most psychopaths generally obey traffic laws. Imagine if suicide by ramming head-on into oncoming traffic became a growing thing. The self-driving tech would kick into overdrive. For a 16 year old, guns are recreation, but driving gets them to work or school or other stuff. So a difference there.

          There is a difference, but.....

Suicide by car is actually a lot more common than you'd think. One of the incentives is that it doesn't automatically cancel the life Ins. benefits to the survivors like jumping off a building or blowing your brains out. It is hard to actually pin point the numbers but more single car running into a tree or off a bridge accidents than you'd think are actually suicides. Psychopaths who murder with cars are not that uncommon either, I can think of a couple of local cases right off the top of my head where murders were committed by running down the victim with a car. We just don't think about them much because murders by automobile usually only make the local papers unless it's a terrorist roaring down a sidewalk.

It is also surprising how many psychopaths never commit a crime just because they choose not to, psychopathy (a lack of conscience and/or empathy) not necessarily overriding reason or common sense as you accurately pointed out.

On the O.P., where I live open carry is legal but uncommon. Since open carry became legal here in Texas a few years ago I've only seen two people carrying openly. I personally choose not to carry openly primarily because of tactical considerations and, secondarily, because I see no reason to irritate other people unnecessarily.

I have a CC. I always have at least one gun in my car but seldom carry on my body. In my state and county it is only $20 per year and drops to $15 per year after age 65 plus you can buy them for up to 5 years at a time. I told them at the sheriff's office that the rates should go up instead of down because us old farts are much more likely to pull a gun and not put up with anyone's s**t.

The gun shops have told me that having a current CC cuts a lot of red tape on gun purchases. They don't even have to call the sheriff's office for approval when filling out the paper work.

            18 is minimum age here.

I have a CHL. Arkansas has an unusual law, but the current Attorney General has ruled that open carry and carry without a license is legal.

Kansas went to open carry and no license. I’ve only seen two people open carrying since it was enacted. One in Cabelas and a local that walks around or rides his bike with a little semi in an Uncle Mikes holster. The guy in Cabelas was walking around telling anyone that would listen it was his right. He seemed to be irritating people more than anything. Personally I carry concealed. Personally old enough to serve like an adult old enough to live like an adult.

Missouri has had open carry for years. As far as it irritating someone, I've never personally witnessed that or heard anyone comment on it. I carry concealed because it's better not to be the first target. My bank has a sign on the entrance which says "Your legally carried concealed weapon is welcome on these premises".

I want to continue to look like a harmless white haired [what there is] old man with his dog. Under my left arm is Sigmund and on the other side is 4 loaded magazines as well.
