It's too late to stop the Robots ...

The technology is like a runaway train, once started
there ain't no stopping it. The common euphemism is AI,
but to me they're Robots and probably not the genteel
ones envisioned by Asimov with built in protections.
The damn things will be the death of us - not me, I'll
be long gone before they figure they can run things way
better than us Humans and we're just in the way.

Bengio, who is also a co-founder of Montreal-based AI software company Element AI, said he was concerned about the technology he helped create being used for controlling people’s behavior and influencing their minds. Bengio, a professor at the University of Montreal, is considered one of the three "godfathers" of deep learning, along with Yann LeCun and Geoff Hinton.

Computers will always serve humans. The danger is WHICH humans they will serve and HOW they will serve them.

It's fairly simple -- robots do what they're designed to do. The controlling humans design the robots to do what they want them to do.

There are robots being designed now to think for themselves

Thinking is one thing, emotion is another. Why would a robot WANT to control the world?

                POWER.

Why settle for 12V when you can advance to 24V > 40V > 80V? If they gain political status and sit and do nothing all day they could become corded with AC power. Humans, I suppose would become slaves to furnish that power.

And when they do, they burn out their circuits, and the problem is solved.
