Wet Foot ... dry foot ....

    Wet Back .... Dry Foot

Believe it or not I've always been a "seal the border guy" ... longer it would seem than most here on this forum . Thats why I voted Buchanan way back when .

Do I believe in the campaign promise of " The Wall " ? ... well with no aplologies offered ...I don't believe the Wall will accomplish the desired results in relation to it's cost..

But I'll say this ... I do agree with Trumps move to send assylum seekers back to Mexico and/or remain in Mexico to await word on their individual cases . It may just wean out some of the "bull xxxxters" that need to come in looking for a job not available back home.

Along those lines.... who ended the "dry foot" deal with Cuba ?.... well?

    Thats's right... Obama.

Obama ended the dry foot Cuban imigration deal thus ending { somewhat } the decades old flotilla from Cuba and the Rebublican response was...was that a cricket chirp ? ....

Yes.... a cricket chirp .... and that's the prob.

Here in the good ol USA, if someone from the opposite political party does something you agree with... well, you'll just have to disagree with it... or ignore it... but agree with it is just plain not happening ....

so... lets just shut the effing Government down again...

If you are sharp enough to read close..... you just might notice this wasn't a blast against either party, it was aganst both... but I doubt many here are that sharp

How about some serious penalties on businesses caught hiring illegals? End the charade of plausible deniability?

Well... that's exactly right. Back during Bushs 8 yrs I was a "semi " big wheel for a decent sized construction company here in Florida. One of the tasks I was given as such was to contact the US Government to get the real "skinny" on making sure we hired legal employees.

I was told ... by US Government agencies... that as long as the Identification provided by a prospective employee was even remotely plausible we could not deny employment based on our belief that he might be an illegal as that could be construed as bias ....

and this was pre Obama gents...

That's the dirty secret of illegals in America, that they make a lot of money for a lot of people. Say what you will about taxpayer freebies, they do a lot of laundry, crop work, dishwashing, grounds-keeping, etc. Story is that at least one current high-ranking politician with connections to the Luxury Golf industry had a conduit of illegals flowing into their properties. Needless to say the proprietors had no idea this was going on.

Put out requests for bids in 2004. "All persons on the site must be able to prove legal work status in US". 2/3 of the requests went unanswered. Flip side is former GF had a landscaping company in Phoenix. Putting in an E-Verify request got you raided by ICE. So much for being a chump, er law abiding citizen.

ref: Sand/Tog; Sadly, I have to agree. Easy for me, I don't run a company. It shouldn't have to be this way, but from time immemorial it has been thus. There was a program way back, I think in the Eisenhower days called Operation Wetback or something. Mexicans were brought up for the harvest and then returned home. That is way to cumbersome nowadays. But,be careful what you ask for. Now, somehow we have tied ourselves to some kind of religious or well meaning rules(EU kind of stuff) that require acceptance of people for no reason at all, other than they aren't comfortable where they live now. Actually stating that they come for work disqualifies them(kooky democrat thinking lately).
Right after the Great Recession started a reverse tsunami of Hispanics went back home. Home was normal, the U.S. wasn't all that great anymore. When the next semi-great recession occurs, no one will leave. They will have "rights" and will expect to be taken care of. If you ever read Ender's Game you know that the opponent constantly learns and gets better. Of course there was no mention of lawyers in that book.
