Use El Chapo's 14 billion to pay for the wall ? ...

Now that's an idea. Cudos to Ted Cruz for coming up with
what to do with Chapo's ill-gotten gains. If it isn't spent
for steel and concrete then it will slowly find it's way into
various politician's bank accounts - if it hasn't already.
Those thieving magpies aren't going to let that kind of
money just sit around - they'll nick it either for themselves
or for some other unworthy cause - like their own families
    or welfare for illegals.

Could El Chapo’s seized drug money be used to build the border wall? That’s one of the questions many are asking on Tuesday following news of the former drug kingpin being found guilty on all counts. Mexico’s most notorious drug kingpin, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, will spend the rest of his life in prison after […]

Makes a hell of a lot of sense to me. However, it will have to be appropriated -- and the House of Representatives originates all appropriations.

This would be one way Mexico would end up paying for the wall in disgrace and after all if not for Mexico and numerous types like El Chapo we wouldn't need the wall.

This isn't anything new, just the first time a politician has suggested it.

Like DT mentioned, if something constructive isn't done with the money soon it will just disappear with no accountability whatsoever. When elected officials announce that money is going into "special funds", "general funds" or even "emergency funds" it is the same as saying it is going into their private savings account.

As much time and money I donate to children's charities, including St.Jude's, I must disagree. I donate a lot of time. It's what I do now. I'm on several boards so I don't just talk about it. Kids and dope money....there are principles involved which need to be addressed.
One of the reasons I was for Cruz during the Republican primaries is something like this. He's always had a knack for backing something which actually means something. However, he has shown a lack of political backbone at times and that has disappointed me in the past. This is something which can work. It's time for him to man up and stand fast.
