Now all the residents of this 'business is the enemy', 'never met a tax I didn't like', liberal utopia pay ever increasing rates on everything from real property to fuel and food and even on their cell phone while they must earn that money somewhere else. You would think these local businesses would be prized not for just keeping everyone's tax share down, but that the tree-hugging, greenie-weenie, SUV haters would love these locally owned/manned businesses even more so for keeping everyone's 'carbon footprint' to a minimum, but unfortunately they really don't think that deeply (and once in power could give a shiest unless they can line their own pocket, ... sorry that was opinion with a side of contempt sneaking in there again).

The salt in the wound is that anyone who wants to leave gets an extra 'exit' tax if they sell their home when they try to move somewhere better, ... and anyone who can (afford to) make a difference in these sorry situations, finally gives up in disgust, bites the bullet and leaves, ...

    Best all, ...

Question becomes, where do I go?
we had a west coast beer operation decide to locate here in RVA,
they got some deals, kickbacks, breaks etc etc,

funny thing is, none of the local startup, no matter what age, got any deals at all,

one took the city to task over it, and ended up with some deal that helped them open a second and larger location out of the city,, and another has also been to the city for some type of recourse, or was in negotiations when I left that part of my retail career,

25,000 people who would have had jobs, paying taxes and spending money in the local community. Instead, one large corporation being threatened to be taxed to death simply moves to a job friendly state.

      There's not much a democrat can't and won't f**k up.

I also read elsewhere that Amazon had 260+ cities that wanted some action

meaning that they have info from 260+ potential locations for fulfillment centers, branches etc, and already know what is on the table for negoiations

Reminds me of what happened when Cabela's wanted tax breaks to open a store in North Little Rock. There was a billboard by the Interstate saying, "Cabela's is welcome in North Little Rock -- IF they pay their fair share."

I kept hoping Cabela's would put up a sign next to it -- "Cabla's IS paying it's fair share -- $0. We're opening our store in Fort Smith."
