This doesn't make sense! Why build a ship that will never sail?

As a hotel it will draw guests from around the World.
      It will be booked solid.

The Chinese are weird. They build theme neighborhoods. If you want to live in Virginia City you can.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

It won't have boilers and a working powerplant so it's really just a theme experience.

I am not talking about the builders, but about the people willing to spend money to stay on a ship that will never sail.

It's a Hotel just like the Queen Mary, except QM does have engines,
                      so what's your point.

Titanic 2 doesn't have engines ? Where did it say that ?

Elsewhere on the web, "replica engines", which I would say means that mockups that people can walk past. But seriously, where are you going to get coal-fired boilers and steam engines like the ones they had? And the point is, it's not a real ship. It's a ship-shaped entertainment destination. That goes to cost of construction in a big way.

Here is an interesting read of the Titanic's power plant. As impressive as it is, oil power and electricity must have been viewed as Godsends when they came into maritime use.

In depth description of the workings of a huge steam powerplant. A lot of "blackshoe" work to take nice people across the ocean. Imagine the amount of coal that was aboard. Kind of makes me think, the Titanic was just another form of dirigible.
