I was starting to think that when I read this article on another site that this could happen here. No, the problem is that any time anyone disagrees with the left they are attacked personally (I would correctly call it 'ad hominem' but I am trying to stick to an 8th grade reading level for you - how does it feel?) and their capacities are questioned.

They don't think about the ramifications but instead stand there with tears in their eyes, wringing their hands and screaming that they couldn't have known - just like at Tienanmen Square when they goaded the Chinese government to act and they stood there slack jawed and teary-eyed when the crackdown that THEY caused finally happened,

You're right -- and when they DO think of consequences, they take a Pollyanna approach. For example, they hold that if you increase a business's operating expenses, they'll simply cut dividends to compensate.
