"Plea Deals" are letting criminals get away with murder ...

I realize that copping a plea does away with the expense
of a time consuming jury trial and leaves it up to the
Judge to decide on the sentence, but, in this case ten
of the eleven charges would be dropped and the Judge
has yet to decide whether or not the perps are adults
or juveniles. Is he kidding ? These miserable specimens
are adults and deserve heavy sentences, They committed
Murder. In my opinion, first degree.

Been going on a long time. Just part of the frustration I see on a daily basis. Although I see a need for plea bargains in some cases it appears to be out of control and unchecked. It’s frustrating to spend the time charging a suspect with crimes they committed to have it plead to almost nothing, then have the victim blame the reporting officer, but it’s just how it works.

There are two edges to that sword. On the one hand, many crimes are pled down. On the other hand, many a vindictive prosecutor overcharges a crime -- innocent men are faced with the prospect of taking a plea and accepting a few years in prison, or going to trial and risking life without parole.
