    Raising the Minimum Wage

"Economics 101: When Amazon pulled out of New York, the loss of 25,000 future jobs made headlines. What isn't making headlines are the thousands of jobs being destroyed right now thanks to the city's new $15 minimum wage."

Another view of the same topic.

To me a related question is whether low wage/low tax states give a better standard of living for working people than high wage/high tax states. Obviously from an employer's perspective, low wages and low taxes are a double dream come true, but for those who actually do the work, maybe not so much. It's a question, and I don't claim to know the answer.

Want to end the need for welfare and other social benefits ?... yeah, me too.... but we need to stop creating the need, or the desire to collect them

working needs to be worth more than collecting social benefits , even if it means a smaller dividend for the retired stock holders sipping a bev by the pool ... can't have it both ways forever

What's needed is a Burger Flippers Union.

Some unions are tougher than others at the bargaining table.

And that will happen everywhere. This is AOC mentality economics.

As long as we have welfare and minimum wage rates that continually increase there is no incentive for anyone to better themselves either.

Lets raise the rates to $1,000 an hour and see how many employees are left.

There is a machine that will take your order, grind and grill to your specifications, assembly and wrap ready to eat. The machine only needs one person to keep the bins filled, the rest is automated.

I can't figure out if the National Socialists can't understand this, or if they do but just don't care.

Of course, they have already stated their belief that if the cost of production goes up, businesses will cut dividends rather than raise prices.

In the long run it is far cheaper to replace a human with a machine. My daughter monitor's 4 register's instead of just manning one, 3 less workers needed. Spend $100,000 on a machine which will pay for itself in a short time and then clear profit after that. In my daughters case, the company can pay $15.00 per hour and save $45.00 per hour x40 x52=$93,600 + benefits.

Absolute BS from a complete fool. Working is what life is about and it starts at birth. Your first job is to learn to breathe, then to suckle, then to eat. As you grow you learn crawl, then walk, and not to not pee and crap in your pants.

If you cannot learn how to control your bowels and how to not crap in your britches then you will have trouble with ABC's and the 2+2 basics. If you don't work and learn in grade school, that makes it impossible to compete in high school. I can talk to someone for a few minutes and know whether they were a doer or a loser. "I seen the train acoming...," or "I ain't got no money." That's a clue that you are not talking to a productive citizen.

The idea that flipping burger's, sweeping the floors at a apartment building, bussing tables at Steak & Ale, etc. are careers where you should be able to have a home, a car, and support a family is the Socialist Dream. It is a total farce.

In the meantime, the American Dream is still alive and being fulfilled everyday. But, the American Dream is dead, according to togor and his family of stooges. According to them, the world would be far better off if everybody, (except their Elite friends, of course) has the same amount of money, stature, etc., whether they work or if they don't want to work are still wearing diapers at 34.

Make the minimum wage $1,000,000/ hour and everybody could just work an hour or two and then retire!

Red ... you do realize that you posted this to a long time self employed small business owner who has never once collected a social benefit ?...one that employs people ?

My small business { the latest one } came to be 6 years ago and flourished hard immediately. However the bast 18 months have seen its income drop $ 17,000 as we've had to drop clients since we can't seem to encourage an American to show up for work 5 days in a row. {and I offer far beyond minimum wage } Add the fact that our business expenses have risen 17 % in one year and I have the remaining clients screaming bloody murder over my hint at rate increases .

To help eleviate the business losses we've indulged in an on line sale busines . That has in fact gone quite well even though its rewarded us with another 1099 to the tune of $22,500 . It's also caused us to receive notification that as of April 15 "new" Federal regulations mandate that our PayPal acct be linked to a bank acct. in order the IRS can keep tabs. I have to wonder.... what two regulations did we eliminate to make room for that one ?

Well I thought that we voted for lower taxes and less regulations .... obviously that didn't mean for everyone .

A wise man once stated... " Want to experience the American Dream ? .... then move to Scandinavia "

So you aren’t on welfare! The problem is you pay your lackeys a minimum wage. If the minimum wage isn’t enough to own a house, a car and insurance, why don’t you pay them $15, $30, $100/hit?

If you think Americans (i.e. Anglo/Asians) don’t want to work, then get your sorry butt down to Venezuela, Ethiopia, or South Africa where their citizens are far better than any Legal American.

Unskilled, uneducated, no responsibility or accountability = low pay

Highly skilled, experienced, educated, responsible and accountable = high pay

Must we teach the democrats EVERYTHING?
