Too much money in too few hands ? ...

Billionaires seem to be hoovering up the money from
all over the global map whilst the world-wide poor
are just as poor as they ever were, except there's even
more of them now (thanks to socialism).
Not a happy circumstance. Reminds one of King Louis
and his wife who suggested the peasants eat bread
maybe not knowing that the "bread" was the scrapings
from the ovens. Come to think of it, she probably did know.

A third of British billionaires have moved to tax havens after an exodus over the past decade, a Times investigation has found. They are among 6,800 Britons controlling 12,000 UK firms from low-tax jurisdictions. The Exchequer is denied billions a year but many of the bosses still reap the benefits

It used to be millionaires, now it's billionaires,
how long until it's trillionaires ?
I can see this eventually leading to trouble.

DT the crickets should tell you that you're onto something here. I'll add that I don't like billionaires in politics, including that Steyr guy who is ragging on everyone to get going with impeachment.

Do you really think that present-day rich people are a new thing? History is teeming with super wealthy people and starving people. We are not the first ones here. Regards, Clark

And how about those multiple revolutions that have occurred for this reason.
It happened before and it can happen again, especially as socialism becomes
more popular - as it's now doing.

The rich are rich because they aren't stupid. I remember in the sixties when the English bands discovered that the tax rate was 97%. When "soak the rich" is in vogue, the rich beat feet to somewhere else.
New medicines and techniques keep people alive longer, even poor people.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

A wise man once said, "If you don't like the rich, ask a poor man to give you a job."

The much-derided rich are the ones the rest of us depend on for jobs and paychecks.

That's the banana republic model. The post-war US economy, which is what sustained most here, was based on middle class prosperity, not poor people laboring for the rich. The low-wage, low-tax model that you favor is great for a few but leaves many without a clear path forward. Put another way, in 2019, a young army veteran, with a history degree, possibly some student debt (depends on gov't supplied GI benefits), and no capital otherwise, has fewer pathways to wealth than a similar army veteran of 50 years ago, given the changes in the economy. On the other hand, the children of a billionaire have many more pathways to capital accumulation than would have been possible 50 years ago. DT is onto something.

Case in point: The GM Lordstown, OH plant. That plant went under because rich guys stopped buying Chevy Cruzes? I don't think so. BTW, I change oil on 3 cars that came out of that plant. The whole idea that we owe our economy to the rich is the rotten idea at the core of trickle-down economics. AOC's economic ideas may be wooly-headed, like Bernie's, but these people at least speak to the problem in a way that low-tax/low-wage Vernon cannot.

Bernie is a prime example of a rich man telling the poor that by putting Bernie in power "their" problems will be solved. Now we have a rich man who stated that he would work to improve the economy, not "give" anything. My area where I live has an abundance of jobs and not enough workers. Three new business opened or opening and are advertising as in need of workers. Bernie is not going to do a damned thing to hurt his $$$ or his friends $$$, just feed empty promises. My Mom always said a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Bernie is a "vote for me and I will set you free!" as opposed to Trump's "Here's the key!"

As Zbigniew Brzezinski, President Carter's National Security Adviser, said, "Communism is the greatest calamity to overtake mankind." And Socialism is the same -- remember, "Nazi" is an acronym for "National Zoscialism."

This is the fate of the followers of National Socialism...13 steps and a sudden stop.

"We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle." Churchill
"The problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples money." Margaret Thatcher
A VERY big factor in the Fall of Communism was that the East Bloc countries were heavily in debt to Western bankers-in some cases 20% or more of their modest-and not growing-GDPs.
Socialist countries replace money and wealth accumulation with rationing and privileges based on rank, etc.

And they ultimately collapse. But not before many, many people have died. Look at the drama playing out in Venezuela right now.

This picture is of the hanging of German civilian, one of 5 hanged for murdering a shot down B17 crew.

True, I just found this out in further research. Regardless of this fact, Nazi's were still hanged for the murder of innocents. Such happened to those who were early tried such as Keitel or Yodel. I think I can correct the picture to make it more thoughtful. Appreciate your insight very much.
