Men that have to pee in the night ...

Yeah, that's me they're talking about.
Used to be that I'd get up to pee and stand there like
an idiot with nothing happening. BUT, I found the answer,
a light touch just above the tailbone turns the tap on.
Turns my tap on anyway. Don't know about yours if anyone
else here suffers from "nocturia". However, I'd guess that
male plumbing doesn't vary too much from male to male.

So long as you don't have to pee to find it.

Where do they come up with this stuff. So sneezing multiple times a day costs 33 billion a year.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

When I had a heart attack, they had me tied up -- tubes going everywhere. They gave me a plastic xxxx about the size of a quart milk bottle. I brought it home and have been using it ever since -- just swing out of the bed and grab the urinal.

While I/we appreciate this info I have to wonder how you made such a discovery and not sure I want an answer.

having had 10 stones that I can count, and many many more in me going by the last MRI I had (my kidneys are gravel pits) I drink a lot,
good beer (per my ero), water, and water, and water,
usually a large glass each night before bed,

gettting up around 1-2AM is a norm, and I go right back to sleep,,,

tried FloMax when I had one that wanted to hang around a while,, my Flo was Max, I think I could have carved granite when I went to pee,,,

I feel for you guys. I should have kidney stones but don't (that I know of) due to my low (almost zero) intake of water. I drink a lot of black coffee and I believe that caffeine contributes to stones. My brother has had stones all his adult life but drinks a LOT of beer (alcohol=stones) and coffee. Again, no water or very little.

As I grew older my bladder became much like that of a frightened 5 year old girl so I don't drink a lot of anything at a time and I don't drink about 3 hours prior to bedtime to prevent the trips but is also cause to get stones. I do make it through the night but of course have to visit the john first thing in the mornings.

I know my personal lifestyle doesn't interest anyone but perhaps some of you can relate? I should by all counts have stones but don't. I feel very fortunate.

Recently I try to drink a glass of lemonade a day sweetened with stevia or Spenda. I've read where lemon juice (even the concentrate) helps dissolve stones.

has your brother had his stones examined?

mine are Calcium based, Beer was recommended (good beer, per the Urologist) ,

I am a producer, inherited it from my Mother ,

Tea is a no no for me but I drink it anyway,

                    Beer (again, good),
                    OJ
                    lemon juice
                    grapefruit juice

the juices are converted in the kidneys and some part of them coats the stones to make them smoother,, so says the uro,,

uro said drink lots, (water the most) and flush them out before they get big

there are other types , or rather stones made from other stuff, in some folks,

my brother, like you, drinks Dr Pepper, Coke, and some water, the occasional Bud Light (that is not considered good beer by my uro) and had never had a stone

                    nope, equal opportunity kidneys,

typically one every 2 yrs, alternating sides
last big one popped out about 7 months ago,
never felt it, heard it hit the porcelain, scooped it up and saved it

Sounds like you're getting good at them, LOL.

I had one 20 years ago that caused me to miss a day's work. Darn stone rattled around in the bladder for about a month afterwards. Had a small one, same side, a couple of years ago, that was like a stitch in the side but didn't shut me down. They are not fun. Hydration is important.

He did long ago. I believe they are mostly calcium based. He blames it on the Tums he takes for heartburn.

I have a niece who got kidney stones as a teenager by drinking a lot of iced tea.

My father passed one and was able to collect it. It resembled a sand spur, shape and size. He had it analyzed but I don't recall the results. He had one kidney that was said to be lined with them just waiting their turn to break loose, rattle around and eventually cause blockage or rip their way out. The pain is one thing, the waiting for the inevitable is another. The doctor was considering cutting the worse kidney open to remove the stones. He died of lung cancer at 57 so at least he was spared this ordeal but suffered many others with the cancer.

                              Not a good life.
